The main goal of the Chang'e 6 probe is to collect rock and regolith samples from the far side of the moon and bring them back to Earth for in-depth scientific analysis.

The preliminary landing and sampling area for the Chang'e 6 mission is located in the South Pole-Aitken basin on the far side of the moon. This area is considered the largest and oldest impact crater in the solar system, preserving rocks of the primitive lunar crust, which has extremely high scientific research value. This mission will break through key technologies such as the design and control of the lunar retrograde orbit, intelligent sampling on the far side, and the ascent from the far side, implementing automatic sampling and return from the far side of the moon, while also conducting scientific exploration of the landing area and international cooperation.
