1. 保證金；定金
合約一方當事人向另一方當事人支付的用以保證合約履行的金錢，如其未能履行合約義務，該筆金錢則予沒收。它也可最終成為部份付款，從而使買受人成為合約標的物的真正所有權人。
如：
Information is broken down by each individual tenant and includes: square footage per unit, name of the tenant, monthly charges, lease term, security deposit on hand, and accounts receivable balance.
資訊按照每一個租戶分別記錄，其中包括：每單元的面積，租戶名 稱，住戶每月費用，契約條款，保證金和應收賬款余額。
2. 預付款
在支付條款中，deposit一般可被譯為定金或預付款。在這種情況下，一定要註意應該采取哪種譯法。比如，在下文這一語境中，deposit譯為預付款更為準確：
Lead Time: 10-15 days after receiving the deposit, Packing: Standard Marine Packing, Payment Term: TT, 10% advance, 90% against BL copy
交付周期：收到預付款後10-15天內。包裝：標準海運包裝
支付方式：電匯，10%預付，90%見提單副本付款
註：由於支付方式中明顯提及預付，因而前面的deposit轉譯為預付款更為準確。
3. 存放、投寄（常見於通知條款）
put or set down (something or someone) in a specific place, typically unceremoniously
如：
Any and all Services notices, requests and communications to the parties shall be in writing and will be delivered in person or by certified or registered express mail, and shall be deemed given (i) upon personal delivery; (ii) if delivered by air courier, fax or email, upon confirmation of receipt; or five (5) days after deposit in the mail.
發送給當事方的任何及所有服務通知、申請和信函都將采用書面形式，並將親自送達或透過掛號快件投寄，一旦滿足以下條件即視為收到：(i) 親自送達後；(ii) 確認接收後（如果透過航空快件、傳真或電子信件投遞）；或者投寄後五（5）天。
4. 儲備；存款
指一種行為，某人基於安全或便利的目的，將其金錢交由銀行保管，並可由存款人隨時或按事先約定支取該金錢；２指交由銀行保管的金錢，或存款人由此而獲得的債權。
如：
demand deposit活期存款；活期儲蓄
存款人無須事先通知儲蓄銀行即可在任何時候提取款項的銀行存款。對於此類存款，儲戶既可以用支票方式提取或自動取款機方式提取現金，也可以透過電話或小算盤網路將金額轉移至其他帳戶上。在美國，活期存款是美國貨幣供應量的最大組成部份，也是聯邦準備銀行實施貨幣政策的主要媒介。
time deposit定期存款
指儲戶在存款後規定日期屆滿時才能提取的一種存款；或者儲戶必須在提款前若幹天事先通知銀行的一種存款。
